Hey Patty,
Probably a dumb question... but I am going to ask anyway.
Have you done the following recently and if not, it may be suggested
strongly to do so.
1. Disk Clean Up, this is under Start menu, programs, accessories, and
system tools.
2. Scan disc, this is in different places depending on your system. I think
you have windows 98 so it will be under the system tools folder too.
3. Disk Defragmenter. I know that when I would install things sometimes,
particularlly on my 98 machine, or as we called it around here the "Computer
from hell" that a quick run through the three items above seemed to make
things run much much smoother. Near the end of my time with said computer,
I was running the three items daily to keep it behaving.
I have a great computer now.
But I learned a lot off that PC, and I am glad for the learning, even when
it came with tears and frustration.

Are you reading it as you go? I loved that book, and
Janet is referred to in later books -- and her father
is one of the two main characters in Until You, the
sequel to Rosamund, which is in the collectioon I
believe. It was because of Until You that I became
very curious and immediately got The Kadin.
