I recently proofread a book containing about 15 Hebrew words. It was
scanned by an excellent scanner. To verify the words (I don't know a bit of
Hebrew) I copied the word and pasted into the Google search followed by the
word definition. In the search results, the word came up with a meaning or
comment. That way, I knew that the Hebrew scanned correctly.
Of course, as I said, the scan was excellent, and there were only about 15
words to check.
Since becoming a proofreader, google has become invaluable to me as a source
for checking names, foreign words, and correcting many scannoes.
I enjoy proofreading religious books.

I tried to proof Cabalistic (SP) Tradition, but there were too many errors,
and I was not familiar enough with Hebrew to do justice to it. Plus, some
pages were scanned more than once.

Hi all,
I think we need to separate religious nonfiction in our minds from religious
fiction. There are several Judeic tomes on the checkout list which somebody
somewhere may be wanting. There's also a fair number of what I'd call
Christian apologetics that nobody's taken. Some folks may like to do
religious fiction but balk at apologetics or stuff from a religion that
isn't their own. I dislike apologetic literature because it doesn't do
anything for me. But what we need to find is somebody who's willing to
proof the hard stuff. If I have any time this fall, ha, ha, ha, maybe I'll
try some of the Judeic stuff. At least that would be more interesting to me
than Christian apologetics.
I don't need to be preached to about my own religion. As I have mentioned,
Sr. Dolores has asked me to proof a book on Hildegard Bingin. I'll do that
first, then see if any of the Judeica interests me at all. I may run away
crying "Ai gevalt!", but I'll try.
Anybody else want to try some of this stuff?
