I don't know about Open Book since I have never used it, but couldn't there be instructions on Bookshare's web site telling users of Kurzweil how to convert the book to RTF before submitting. It is so easy. I am going to try following Gerald's recent instructions on how to download a Kurzweil file and see if I can help lower the number on Step 1, but when I tried it previously I didn't know how to do it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "E." <thoth93@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] prohibiting kes and arc formats

I am just a bit concerned when i hear somebody suggest that the newsletter put out by bookshare ask that kes and arc formats not be used. The fact is most of the books on step 1 are in fact submitted in more universal format such as rtf. I know some people cannot use kes or arc formats. I also know some cannot use doc because they do not have word. I know we need all the submitted books we can get and I hesitate to restrict formats for suvmitting them too much in case that cuts down on the number of books submitted. Please let the list know about particular kes or arc books which anyone wants worked on and I am sure someone will do their best to get to them.
