At one time in the past we were instructed to move the page numbers to the top and then at some point we were told that the new Bookshare tools would do that for us. I would expect that would mean that in older books they might not be at the top. In fact, I think I am reading one of those right now. It is the Exiles Trilogy by Ben Bova. Frequently when the page changes I get two numbers. That tells me that what I am probably seeing is page numbers alternating between top and bottom. The book has other problems too, so I have already made a quality report on it.

Hi Netta,
No coffee? You poor thing; I can’t function without my coffee! We have been told that the bookshare tools put the numbers on the top so we don’t have to do it anymore. Are you saying that they (the tools) don’t? I put them on the top anyway because I get lost when I’m trying to proof. Like Roger, I have no idea about left or right. HTH

I know that this thread has been going for a while and i have waited responding to it but I can't hold my tongue any longer. I think that page numbers should uniform in Bookshare. I have great difficulties when I am trying to cite something in a book and sometimes the page numbers are on top and others on the bottom. Since my usable sight isn't worth ****, I often mis"cite" on the work cited. I get away with it (sometimes and when I have a sympathetic instructor) because I "pull" the blind card and explain that the book is in DAISEY format and sometimes the page numbers are off by 1 or 2 pages. Now I know this is incorrect but for the dang near 35 points that they often take off, the lie is worth it to maintain my 3.8 GPA. So, what I am saying is why not stick with one uniform way in a book? Top, bottom, left, or right...just pick one and stay with it since Bookshare does not have a mandated way where to place page numbers. OK, I'm done...sorry if I was biting too hard but I haven't had my first cup of coffee *smile*
