I m surprised you can't get a 64-byte driver. I own an Epson 44 Perfection that I bought when using XP. When I switched to Windows 7, I simply plugged in the Epson scanner and a page came up with a driver I could use. Someone helped me, so I can't be more specific. I saw a Xerox document scanner on Amazon for around $60, but have no idea if it's any good. I had no idea my good old Epson wouldn't work with my new machine, either. I'm quite annoyed.
