I disabled the information bar because it's the only way I could download from bookshare. I do regular virus and spyware scans, so I think I should be oK. ----- Original Message ----- From: <mswanson@xxxxxxxxxxx>

You really don't want to disable the information bar. You should get a beep and a message announcing the presence of said info bar. At that point make sure you're on the dialog and hit enter or spacebar to open it. If you're lucky, there will be a context menu with a few options. Fortunately these can be worked with by any screen reader. If the infobar goes away, just go back to thje point where you first saw it. Do *NOT* set the checkbox to permanently disable the info bar. It's one of the few FUD messages we really need in daily surfing. -- Don't let 7/15/07 be the Day the MUSIC Died! <www.savenetradio.org> for the scoop! I was afraid to try any other fixes because if they failed I was afraid the book would be out of the pool for a whole week. Now I can do a little trial and error without fear of holding books for too long. Julie yes I'm using the information bar in windows xp, and I can't figure out how to disable it. I did try clicking on it and then selecting download file, but bookshare sees that as an attempt to take the file so when the information bar refreshes the page (or whatever it does) so that I can click on the link to download again, it gives me an error. The other thing I can think of besides what Gerald suggested is the information bar in Windows XP. You didn't say if that was what you were using or not or if you did, I missed it. are you using JAWS or some other screen reader? An Alt-N will bring up the information bar if that's the problem and you can hit the spacebar then, which opens a menu where you can choose to download the file. Take care. -- Julie Morales Email & Windows/MSN Messenger: mercy421@xxxxxxxxxxx Skype mercy0421 AIM mercylab421 http://juliemorales.avonrepresentative.com/ Currently in Winchester Regional, Virginia Partly Cloudy, 69°F Wind:NE-050° at 3mph Reality? Hi, I just signed up with bookshare to be a volunteer last week though I've been a bookshare subscriber for almost 2 years. I'm having a problem and I've already tried several things to fix it. Whenever I click on the link to download the .zip file, my internet explorer blocks the file download. When I click on the message and then select "download file" it refreshes the page. But by the time it refreshes the page, bookshare's site thinks I've already downloaded the book and thus I get an error. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I'm fairly computer literate and I've tried several things including: changing the custom security settings in the internet options; security; internet zone i've tried the same with the trusted sites zone (which I've added bookshare too) Thanks, Laura To unsubscribe from this list send a blank Email to bksvol-discuss-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put the word 'unsubscribe' by itself in the subject line.
