Hi, Gerald. Windows XP Home does have the Windows firewall, but I don't know
anything about how it works since I use another program. Take care.

Laura,

What does the message in the Information Bar say when you attempt to
download a book?

Also, are you running XP Home, XP Pro, or XP Media Center? I don't believe
Home has the firewall feature, Pro does, and I'm not sure about Media
Center.

Finally, you didn't mention security software like Norton or McAfee, so
should we assume that you don't have any additional security software on
your PC?

Gerald

Thanks Gerald and Julie,

Gerald I ddn't know you could release the books back in to the pending pool
on the uploads page. I was afraid to try any other fixes because if they
failed I was afraid the book would be out of the pool for a whole week. Now

I can do a little trial and error without fear of holding books for too
long.

Julie yes I'm using the information bar in windows xp, and I can't figure
out how to disable it. I did try clicking on it and then selecting download

file, but bookshare sees that as an attempt to take the file so when the
information bar refreshes the page (or whatever it does) so that I can click

on the link to download again, it gives me an error.

Thanks,
Laura
