o.k. I won't argue. smile--chapter notes, then, or
bibliographic notes. On the other hand, suppose we
think of a book as having a beginning and an end, or a
front and a back, or a head and a foot...then....?

I do prefer them at the end rather than at the bottom
of the page when they are bibliographic but I like
them at the bottom of the page when they are
explanatory.

When validating, btw, I don't usually bother
validating the notes at the end of the main text,
though I do the ones at the bottom of the pages, or
bibliographies or indices. I do glance at them and
figure they are usable as they are, but I offer, in
the long synopsis, to get the book and do them if the
reader needs me to. So far no one has requested that.
