Yeah, that's right. You have to release it, then go and check it out again from the main check out page. Which means that the list of steps I gave to recheck out a book is even longer than I thought.

No, you can't download it any time you want. When you first download it, the book leaves the checkout page and becomes part of your listings. There is no link for redownloading it. Therefore, her advice is valid.
