Recent infrequent and interesting sightings at my feeders and around the house.

First chimney swifts were flying around Saturday

In back yard at or near feeders:

Red-tailed hawk
A lone pine siskin
A lone purple finch
A brown creeper
Four Rufous-sided towhees
A brown thrasher that was in the back yard everyday all winter, sometimes on
the suet feeder
A crippled robin with a severely deformed leg. It was here in the winter of
2011-12, disappeared
and showed up in November 2012, spending all winter. When two robins took
over the territory
  last week, it left again.
A female downy woodpecker with decidely tan feathers instead of white. Wing
bars were typical
eastern race rather than western race. Difference between a regular
downy and this bird
were evident when they were here together.
Red-winged blackbird and brown-headed cowbird showed up at feeder this week.
Upwards of 50 to 75 goldfinches everyday and am seeing many more finches with
conjunctivitus,
despite disinfecting feeders regularly.

The winter was marked by an absence of many blackbirds at feeders until this
last week -- starlings, grackles, rw blackbirds
and cowbirds. Also have seen few juncos and no chipping sparrows.
