Hi David!
We have a very small collection here as well, and we use LibraryWorld. I've
used Alexandra and Destiny before and those have way more functionality if
you're able to afford it (I prefer Destiny), but LibraryWorld does pretty
much everything it needs to do and comes with a much smaller price tag.
Best,
Andrea Kneeland

Hello David and Welcome to BAISL!
Stratford uses Alexandria in each of our libraries. Super easy to train
new folks on. Outstanding customer service. I am very happy with this
software.
Best of luck with your decision!
Thanks,
Keira

We use Alexandria. I have used it for 14 years at Menlo (I switched us
from an older Follett system) and for 8 years at my previous school. It's
easy to learn, easy to use, and has fantastic tech support. It's both Mac
and PC. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Welcome to BAISL!

Hi all,
I am new to basil and am excited to get feedback from all of you if you
have the time. My name is David and I fell into the position of the
librarian when our former librarian decided to move on.
I am looking for a new library system as the one we have is old and I no
longer get tech help. I cannot use the checkmarc app as the system is old
and I cannot update it.
The current system in use is the L4U and my computer is a MacOSX,
10.6.8; (I think I need a new desktop as well). We have approximately 8,200
books in our stacks.
So, what system would you recommend? Would I be able to transfer my
library file over to the new system?
I will have more questions I'm sure but thank you for your response and
hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks,
David
