No idea why the text in this thread corrupts as much as it does. The figures below are 25,000 GBP to 40,000 GBP. Average is 32,000 GBP (ish) -----Original Message----- From: austechwriter-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:austechwriter-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of David Hutchinson Sent: 20 June 2008 09:13 To: austechwriter@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: atw: Re: technical writers/editors in Melbourne "One thing no-one seems to have said is that TW pay is well above the = =3D average ..." Looking at some of the job adverts in the UK, TW jobs are going for =3D anything from =3DA325k to =3DA340K but I am sure people earn more too. = That =3D would be double in Aus dollars I think. So the average in the UK may be =3D =3DA332K - =3DA335K ish. What's the average in Australia? Inner city rents are more than made up for if you don't have a car and = =3D can use public transport. What you save on the car/petrol, pays for the =3D additional rent - but public transport is patchy, so you need to = check =3D this out well. If you take a job somewhere that has trouble finding workers they may = =3D arrange the accommodation for you. Look for mine sites in isolated =3D areas and maybe Canberra (once did do this - don't know if they still = =3D do). In fact, thinking about it, Canberra would be a good starting =3D place. ck -----Original Message----- From: austechwriter-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:austechwriter-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of siri sood Sent: Thursday, 19 June 2008 8:14 PM To: austechwriter@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: atw: Re: technical writers/editors in Melbourne Hi David, You are welcome. By the way, how are the technical writer job openings = =3D in UK? How easy is it to migrate to UK for TW? I do have some relatives =3D in UK. I am also equally worried about the remuneration, but I really do want = =3D to experience working outside India, since I always wanted to study in a =3D university abroad and that did not happen because of my early marriage, =3D kids, and family commitment.
