I rarely have to quote but when I do I say I normally (or usually) get
$xx.xx but I am willing to negotiate. This means I start high.
Also when you get into the groove (whatever that may be) you can quote to
whatever you think the company will pay.
This differs from company to company.
I usually quote high if I don't want a job - but this can work against me
when a company accepts the quote.
