a too green-ish or magenta-ish native white point can be unpleasant though. 
Maybe you can add an option to choose a white point on the blackbody or 
daylight locus which has minimal difference from [255,255,255] in _device RGB 
space_ (in order to keep as many levels as possible)?

(Using a WP on the blackbody or daylight locus with the same CCT as the 
display's native WP does unfortunately not minimized the distance to 
[255,255,255] in RGB space.)
