Everyone:

A few things to share as we look forward to the Relief Sale next Saturday:

We have a great group of quilts this year (47 of them), along with some
other really nice items. You can check out photos of many items on our web
site and can find photos and other information on our Facebook page. We
look forward to seeing those of you who can come next Saturday, but I
wanted to share several things that folks can do to help out whether they
are able to come to the Sale or not.

1. *Baking*. As you know, we typically sell all of the baked goods and
related foodstuffs (jelly, etc.). Perhaps there are people who would like
to do some baking and send the items along with someone who is coming.

2. *Donations*. Again this year, we will be accepting donations for
specific MCC projects during the auction. Please let people in your
congregations know that they can donate toward these projects by sending a
donation along with someone who is coming, or even by contacting us after
the Sale. This year, there will be 2 projects - (1) Syrian Relief and (2)
Hygiene Kits/Relief Kits. For Syrian Relief, MCC's approach is not to
assist the refugees in Europe that we've all heard so much about, but
displaced people within Syria, within Iraq, and in neighboring countries
Jordan and Lebanon. Relief includes food, shelter, clothing, education for
children and other things. One goal is to help people feel that there is
hope without taking a treacherous journey across the Mediterannean Sea on a
flimsy boat. For the Hygiene Kits and Relief Kits, MCC has recently issued
an appeal for donations, both cash and in kind, to replenish the supplies
of these items that have been depleted in recent months due to needs in
multiple areas of the world.

3. *Prayer*. We invite everyone to pray for the Sale - for good
weather, a good crowd, and most of all a good spirit. Here in Houston,
we've done an impersonation of Noah for two Saturdays in a row and I really
hope we don't make it three!

Many thanks for all you do to support the Relief Sale and the lifegiving
work of MCC!

Blessings and Peace,

Roxie
