Hi Beverly,

Macintosh computers are my 1st Choice. I use Windows XP Pro machines because
I have to, not because I want to.
The backup process I am using is basically a drag n drop across the network
from my pattern storage machine. It works for me and as I said in my earlier
post, I can access the finished disc from any of my machines, Mac or
Windows.

I do all my business accounts in Excel. Basically I keep an annual account
spreadsheet and monthly I update all of it. Since I am a home based business
with my equipment in the basement, I also report my household expenses as
well. I let my tax accountant figure it out. I do all my purchasing via
company check or company debit card (internet purchasing), so all of the
entries are in the checkbook register. All of that gets transferred at the
end of the month to the spreadsheet. It is set up with 12 monthly pages and
a summary page showing incoming funds and outgoing funds as well as other
totals that update every time I change something in the spreadsheet. It
seems the last year I had much more expenditures than income though, so will
see what Lori (my tax accountant) can do with it this year. (I file for
extensions immediately at the beginning of the year).

The video does let the customers know it is more involved than just starting
the machine and mounting a garment. I have had some customers come up on
MSN Messenger or Yahoo Messenger (whichever one they have) and watch the
garment being stitched in near real time. They get to see the machine, their
shirt or whatever with stitches being laid down. Most of them have never
observed a commercial machine running so in most cases they are impressed.

I have had customer complain about my tiny little "setup" charge. I charge
$5.00 for setup fee. That is to cover setting up a pattern (usually a stock
design), getting colors right and then test stitching it for run quality.
If I have to digitize something or get it digitized, that is a different
story.
