Hi Steve, the message I've been getting is that the site requires flash. The nearest I came to a troubleshooting page was the support page. Since I stopped the information bar from appearing by checking the do not show this message again check box and clicking the ok button I just get some sort of animation graphic at the top of the page. So far I've had animation on web pages disabled in internet options/advanced. I'll try enabling it and will let you know what happens.

              thanks,
                    John.

Hi John,

When you go onto a page that attempts to install the flash, it will probably
not install and point you to a troubleshooting link. Go straight there.

All the best

Steve

Hi Steve, wherabouts on the adobe site is troubleshooting. I've searched the

main page and can't find it. I then did a search for a link to flash player,

in case the troubleshooting section would be there, but I can only find a
link to "get flash player", the page I'd gone to previously. Incidentally,
I'm still having no joy with alt n. It doesn't do anything. It is a jaws
keystroke, isn't it?
               Thanks,
                   John.

Hi John,

In this case you may need to download the Flash uninstaller utility. If
you
go to http://www.adobe.com and hit the troubleshooting section, I believe
it
is in there. Uninstall Flash, then go back to a flash web site, and it
should ask you to download it again.

All the best

Steve

Hi Steve, still get no response from alt n. I'm wondering now if it's got
something to do with my security settings. I've tried changing the
security
settings, then, having got a friend to download flash player and send it
to
me tried to install it. It installed, but it didn't show in the manage add
ons list, and when I went to websites that required flash they said I
didn't

have it. It's distinctly odd, as I had flash player prior to my last
format
and everything was fine. I ran sfc in case something had been corrupted,
but

still got the same result. It's only flash player that's behaving like
this.

The AVG safe search plug in installed fine, and likewise the text aloud
plug

in. There's something wrong somewhere.
                   John.

Hi John,

Hit do not show, then OK, then Alt-N should work as Chris described.

All the best

Steve

Hi Chris, alt n did nothing. I was placed in the information bar, and the
only things i could access were the do not show this message again check
box

and an ok button.
                   John.

John, press alt n to activate the information bar. Press space to click
on
it. Arrow to the item you want, and press enter. Hope this helps.

Hi everybody, does anyone know of a way to stop the information bar
blocking
downloads? I've changed my security settings to allow downloading of
active
x controls, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. As far as I know
I've done all the help file told me to do. I'm trying to download and
install flash, as there's a speed test I run that won't run without it.
It says on the information bar window that it may be necessary to click
the gold bar at the top of the browser to allow the download. .
What I've done is this. Internet explorer/tools/internet
options/security/custom and then change the download active x settings
to
enable, then click the reset button then ok to get out of internet
options.
It hasn't made any difference.
If anyone's got the answer let me know.
                  Thanks,
                   John.
