/Hello,
I know that M-audio have been mentioned, in this thread, may I add that
cards from Midiman have never yes never, let me down, and I have had a good
few. Installing them in a multi-sound card system works, whether you use 2
m-audio boards, or an m-audio board and, say a creative. DOn't think that
it is easy to install 2 creative labs cards in the same box. Doubtless
somebody on this list has done it more than once, please let me know how?
ttalking about latency, and signal to noise figures, I think m-audio's
figures are pretty good, but for an objective response, interested parties
could glean a wealth of information from the Midimag list. There are some
verry well informed and clever folks on that list.
There are m-audio cards, to run just audio, or audio and midi.
There is lots of useful information on the web regarding configuring
machines specifically for audio work, running XP. Somewhere in my archives
I have some information on this subject, so if it gets tedious searching,
and you want stuff, write me off list. The extent to which you can
go, could work out a little on the pricy side, but the results could be
extra ordinary. Quiet power supplies, quiet coolers, quiet boards, good
screening Multiple hard disks, et cetera and we haven't even begun to
scratch the surface of good audio cards and quality purpose
built, computers devoted to the creation of music and midi.
fair well for now.
Joe Paton.
