Hi Alison,
I have the Soundbox in the games room, a room I hardly use but I have
just asked one of my children to show me the Soundbox Bluetooth feature,
and I think you are going to like this.
The Soundbox has three audio sources (inputs) HDMI, optical and
Bluetooth. To cycle between the three sources, and this is the good bit,
you press a dedicated nice big button on the remote control and Soundbox
announces what audio source you have chosen. So to connect your phone,
you press that button repeatedly until Soundbox says “Bluetooth, pairing
mode”, then you simply connect your phone to it from the Bluetooth menu
on your phone. Could not be any simpler.
When your phone is connected, Soundbox is just an external speaker and
your entire phone’s audio output is rooted through it, including
podcasts, music, VoiceOver and everything else really.
To go back to watching your TV, you again press the audio source button
and choose HDMI/optical. As I said, you will have the audio feedback too
from Soundbox to help you make your choice.
Soundbox is an external soundbar. Whether you can pair it to one of the
voice recognition devices such as Alexa or Google, I do not know I am
afraid but perhaps Sky can answer this. However, I think Soundbox will
give you exactly what you are asking for, a soundbar that produces
premium sound and quality bass, to which you can connect both your TV
and phone and the ability to switch between them with tremendous ease.
I am not sure if Sky are still offering this, but I had a 14 days
cooling off period from the date of delivery to change my mind.
I hope this helps a little.
