Hi,
On the Sonos app, you can only listen to stuff locally stored on the phone.
So podcasts would work. However, if you use an app like Overcast or
Downcast, you can't listen to those on a Sonos. There is no way to cast to
a Sonos from other apps is what I'm saying.
Bluetooth devices however, allow sending stuff from any music app to your
device via Bluetooth.

I wish I was more technically-savvy!
My main reason for wanting a soundbr is to enhance the sound on my tv but
whilst I'm going to the expense of this, I'd also like something (presumably
Bluetooth-enabled) which would allow me to listen to my podcasts and music
on my iPhone. Are you saying, Steve, that this wouldn't be possible using
the Sonos models Jackie has recommended? And what about the Sky solution
Amro mentioned?

That would work, but I thought Alison wanted Bluetooth as well, but yes
Alison, you can play direct from your phone.
The down side to this is you have to do it from within the Sonos app, so
podcasting apps for example, won't work.

I would personally recommend a Sonos Playbar, Playbase or Beam which you
could keep connected to your TV at all times, which is fully accessible with
the Sonos Controller app on your phone, and which lets you play music
through your system using your phone.

Since purchasing our flat-screened tv I don't find it particularly easy to
hear and I don't like the tone either.
My hope is that a soundbar might address this.
The only way I currently get round this is to enlist my sighted husband's
help connecting up the tv to our hi-fi system's surround sound but once the
programme I need this for is ended, it has to be disconnected in order that
the hi-fi can resume it's usual function.
So, what I would like is
A fully accessible soundbar which I can keep connected to the tv all the
time;
Bluetooth capability so it can also act as speakers for the podcasts and
music I have on my iPhone.
Is this feasible?
If so, any recommendations?
