coincidently while following this thread over the last couple of days i have
been looking into soundbars with wireless capability that can cope with
anything you want to throw in their direction.
i've narrowed it down to a few models but one of these falls into the catagory
that you are looking for and within the price range you said you want to be in.
it's the :
sony ht-zf9
this comes with a wireless sub woofer and is available for £483 from amazon and
slightly more from other retailers like currys, richer sounds, and john lewis.
for this price this is very impressive, it has HDMI in and out, optical, 3.5,
and USB inputs, has wi-fi and bluetooth and can be completely controlled from a
sony app on your smart phone as well as with the remote control.
it handles every type of audio format you can imagin including dolby atmos
which like dts-x gives you sounds from all around you even over your head.
it supports 4k video pass through, HDMI arc for sending hi def audio from the
telly via the HDMI lead and even upscales standard stereo and 5.1 audio into
virtual dolby atmos sound.
it has various sound modes including movie, music, sport, news, and standard.
you can also buy a pair of wireless rear speakers as an add on at a later time
to give full 5.1 surround sound, but adding these to the soundbar and sub
woofer package would take the price up to around £760.
the thing that attracks me to this one is the ability to do everything from the
smart phone which includes making any changes to the settings which you would
normally have to do visually via a menu on the screen.
the only other models i found that can do as much as this one cost 2 and 3
times as much.
