Adrien,When you plug in a USB drive you should get the menu appear which gives you a few options. One of them is 'open folder to view files'. Pressing 'O' at that point highlights that option. Pressing after that opens the folder of that drive. Now pressing 'N' will highlight NVDA.exe, and pressing enter again should launch NVDA.
So the sequence is: 1. Plug in the drive. 2. Wait about ten seconds. 3. Press O 4. Press enter. 5. Press N 7. Press enter 8. NVDA launches with rising tones.Unfortunately sometimes the choice dialog which appears when the drive is inserted doesn't gain focus. Then you have a problem.

Ok in that case, how can my friend run nvda on pen with no speech, for the first time, the pen will be put on the pc, he will need sighted assistance to navigate to the pen and hit the shortcut, I have experimented and tried using a hotkey but of course the drive letter will be different for each pc. There must be a way around this. Regards Adrien -----Original Message----- From: access-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Michael A. Even the commercial screen-readers rely on a service running on the PC to start the reader. Supernova has the Dolphiin autostart service and Jaws has another version of the same thing.
