The TVonics has either or, so you can use HDMI or SCART. If you have a TV
that doesn't have an HDMI socket, you're out of luck unfortunately.

You must have an optical cable to carry the audio from one device to
another. Stephens message earlier explained this pretty well!
If you want to record from the TVonics, perhaps a skart to phono cable or
skart to 3.5 jack would fit the bill.
Have a wee look on Maplin, for example, for any of these type of cables.
It will be possible to do what your asking though.

can you plug a phon cable and the other end in to a pc to record
something from your box direct o say a hard drive in windows?
