Well, only just past the outer surface and then I push what is probably
a rubber stopper.
In view of the fact that nobody else seems to have theirs, I'm probably
way off beam here, so don't take my findings as absolute. I'll try to
remember to get a sighted person to check when one is available, later
next week.

If you can poke your finger nail into the hole, I would suggest there
is no protective stopper. I presume what we are talking about is what
fits into the socket on some digital radios and CD players.

Hi everybody, a little question to all with the TVonics box. The
optical socket should have a stopper in it to protect it. on mine
it's missing. I'd be interested to know if it's just mine or if none
of them have them.
For those unacquainted with optical sockets it's under the scart,
next to the power. It should have a little plastic stopper plugged
into it.
