Dear Terry and others trying JAWS with Windows 7.0. There is significant re-organising of the taskbar and what used to be variously described as the nofication area/system tray. It is likely that JAWS just doesn't work there yet, in fact I already know it won't. Even when JAWS is suitably adapted many users will find there is nothing actually in there to find which may again be interpretted as a JAWS bug, however this will be by design because Microsoft have chosen by default to hide everything in your system tray even though it may still actally be running. This means that your system could be fully loaded with startup programs but Windows still hides the evidence of this until you really go hunting. ________________________________ From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of terry cooper Sent: 11 February 2009 09:46 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: jaws and windows 7 Hi Tris Well, after a few attempts, I managed to get jfw v10 installed, and its working really well. One thing I've noticed so far, is I'm ot able to bring up the system tray using insert and f11. It just says, failed to bring up system tray, or something similar to that. I'm just waiting for my activation count to be reset before trying to authorise it. Bear in mind that Windows 7.0 is still beta and as I say work to make JAWS Windows 7.0 compliant. Also I wonder if perhaps you are using 64bit Windows 7.0 perhaps which at this present stage will complicate matters considerably. Be assured though to work to make JAWS work with 7.0 is underway. ______________________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned by the MessageLabs Email Security System.
