Hi, port 587 for SMTP server has never let me down when traveling in the UK and overseas too, using a secure connection or otherwise.

Best thing to do is to read the ISPs documentation re-setting up an external email client. That will apply regardless of whether you are using an iPhone or a computer et cetera.
