hi, it's simply because, in my case, vista offers me nothing i don't have
access to already. so why bother! your asking these questions, so come on,
tell me something that vista can offer me as an everyday, home pc user that
isn't already available in xp, or as a 3rd party download, that makes it
worth the while upgrading to it.

I agree on the hardware point only because manufacturers have not had long
to serv their wdm's yet.
I'd say 512MB of DDR2 or above would be a minimum but from what I hear it's
not as slow as XP was when it first came out.
Just out of curiosity is JFW offering a free or payed for upgrade?
I'm genuinly fascinated why alot of people that have replyed on this list
are hoding back on Vista. Soem untill it releases SP1?
Is this because of Microsoft's experiences with XP? Which was a nightmare
for attacks in the beginning.
Is it because of cost of access software?
Fear of the unknown?
A combination of many factors?

Generally speaking I would be against upgrading an O/S on an existing PC
unless you get something that indicates that it could possibly run the thing
like a VISTA capable logo. Also in terms of the hardware requirements I
would factor it in with a new PC purchase. Vista definitely won't run with
512mb RAM well, the hardware burden is higher than XP even without taking
into account Aero graphics. Some have commented extreme slowness with Aero
and powerful graphics cards, this may be down to drivers needing to be
tweaked. but I would defintely be wary about putting Vista on hardware that
is anything less than current.
If you are already a Jaws 8.0 user you will be able to use this O/S when the
update is posted.
