hi martin,
there are no buttons on the actual fire stick, just a hdmi plug on one
end and a micro usb socket on the side to supply power.
the remote has a total of 15 buttons on it with 5 of them making up the
navigation ring with the ok button in the middle.
from top to bottom they are:
small round button at the top left hand corner is the power button for your tv
if you pair it, this does not power the fire stick on or off.
a press of any other key will power the fire stick on when it is asleep.
the stick will go to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity.
slightly below this button in the centre is the voice button for activating the
microphone which you hold down whilst speaking and then release.
below the voice button is the large navigation circle with the ok button in the
centre.
below this is a row of 3 buttons.
on the left is the back button
in the middle is the home button
and on the right is the menu button.
so to turn the speech on you hold the left and right buttons down at the same
time and after a couple of seconds the stick will start speaking.
under this row is another row of 3 buttons.
on the left is the rewind button.
in the centre is the play/pause button.
and on the right is the fast forward button.
below this in the centre is a long rocker switch with volume up at the top and
volume down at the bottom.
and finally below this volume rocker switch is the mute button.
you do need to have the stick plugged into the tv and powered up to set it up.
and you will need some sighted help setting it up for the first time as you
can't turn the speech on at the beginning and need to get it connected first.
once setup for the first time you wont need sighted help to swap wi-fi networks
or updating the software as you can do this with the speech working.
