Hi,

Also, Google TV has been released this week, it used to be badged Android
TV.  It's built into a Chromecast, so I'll be intrigued to see how well
Talkback works on it.

All the best

Steve

Subject: [access-uk] Re: USB TV sticks

hi Martin,

if you want to use one of these connected to tv then it will be an HDMI
stick and not USB.
but to answer the rest of your question, for example using the amazon fire
stick which there was a new version released this week you wouldn't need the
tv to have it's own voice built in as the stick has it's own speech.
this new stick comes with a voice remote control meaning not only does the
stick speak to you but you can speak to it to search for and play film and
tv series.
it works really well with amazon prime and netflix speaking everything, but
this isn't the case when running the terrestrial tv channels apps, infact
this new stick doesn't even have bbc iplayer at the moment although amazon
say they are working with the bbc to resolve this.
i use it on amazon prime and netflix and wouldn't be without it.
this new stick has a much faster processor so is much quicker than the older
ones and the remote is capable of controlling things like your tv and sound
system as well.
it costs just under £40.

pete.
