Marie,

The dyson is likely to be good at picking up sand and heavy particles, where
it's not so good is fine particles, typically from carpets. It's the very fine
felt, or belly button fluff lol which blocks up the upright DC02, and needs
blasting out with a blow gun, as it blocks up all the holes in the upper part
of the unit. I have had this vac for around twelve years.

The DC08 Animal has a 1400 Watt motor, and is powerful, but it's rollers rely
on suction alone to spin them. The problem is hair and the smallest bit of
string raps around the rollers and slows down and even stops them. This means
having to often strip down the rollers and remove all the hair etc. I've had
this vac for around three years.

We also have a Panasonic bagless vac, which is used to clean our campervan. We
bought this before the Dyson DC08, but it's filter soon clogged up and it's
thermal cut-out would operate every five minutes, till the filter was washed
and dried again. What a pain! so we bought the dyson.

Conclusion, if you have no carpets, hair or belly button fluff, the dyson in my
experience should be fine.
HTH

Dave

can't remember, after all this time, it has probably been superceeded anyway.
All I know is it sucks upthe the load of sand I bring home from my walks on the
beach from the floors a lot better than any vacs I've had previously.

Marie,

Which model have you got?

Dave

The only fault with the Dyson is they are rather noisy. I've had mine for 5
years and it works as well now as when it was new even after having to guzzle
up dog's hair and sand.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Cheers now,

Marie
