Hi Wendy I find the dyson very good for cleaning and emptying,  the DC 07 is

a 1400 watt power,  and the emptying of it is very easy also,  just lift the

bin off the front being careful as just below the handle is a little ring , 
hold the bin over the   bag or bin you want to empty in to,  and pull the 
little ring I said about and the bottom of the bin opens and out come the 
dust.  just close it back up and insert back on Hoover job done.
