Hi,

FYI, I think Apple have stopped that now.  Don't quote me on it, but that's
what an Apple store told me last year.

It's not a sustainable business model to be honest.  Can you imagine paying
your 80 quid and going in every day for an hour?  That would take the
trainer away from a lot of work.

All the best

Steve

Hi Hazel

they don't advertise it but blind people can pay £80 (probably gone up now)
for as many 1 hour sessions as you like for 1 year.  During these sessions
they will help you with whatever part of the phone you are trying to learn.
I got a great deal out of those sessions.

Ibrahim I actually had a friend come with me to Milton Keynes Apple store
where I was introduced to a great person who had a blind friend and he
demostrated the phone in a way we use it.
I got on great and when my phone kicks the dust that is the direction I
will go.I got on better with the smaller phone as there was less room to
get lost on the screen.
I was very impressed with their service.

Hi Hazel.

If you want to try your hand at using an iPhone, the best place to go
would be an Apple store.  If you can get to one of the flagship stores,
they'll be able to give you a voiceover demonstration, but its worth
ringing and making an appointment to reserve time with one of the genius
specialists as you will be able to ask any questions and spend a
reasonable amount of time with the devices. Online today is another good
option, however that does involve travelling to one of the online today
events held throughout the country. To find out more about events and
their locations, please go to www.rnib.org.uk/onlinetoday.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Jackie all I wanted was to try an I phone to see if I would get on with
one but I was told I would have to buy any device from them to get the
training.

As far as I know, RNIB is offering help to anyone regardless of what
device
they have, as part of their £5m Online Today funding from the Big
Lottery.
If this is not the case, or there is another scheme running that differs
from my information, then I am sure someone will put us right.

yes but that's crazy, because the person told me that it didn't matter
what
type of device so for instance an iPhone or an android phone.
