Hello Steve, I can't help but agree with you!

Truthfully?  I'll probably get in trouble for this, but I think RNIB's

not Steve but how many of those who are receiving this exclusive training
from RNIB find themselves at university and in employment? surely as NVDA and
Window Eyes can be installed without additional cost, it would be good to
concentrate on them

Hi Steve.

Let's not forget Zoom Text, Magic and guide, which they also sell, but there
has to come a point at which you ask how many systems out of what is
available can you reasonably expect to be able to support customers with?
The fact is that Supernova and JAWS (and to some extent NVDA) can be found
in schools, universities, workplaces and libraries up and down the country
so if a customer spends time with one system, even a commercial one, it'll
probably be the one they will be faced with if and when they avail
themselves of study or work opportunities.  I can't remember the last time I
ever heard of anyone using Window-Eyes at work although it doubtless is.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi,

Well NVDA is free, so RNIB could have that anyway, but I think
commercially they seem tied to JAWS and Supernova.  Which is why I say
they are not impartial.

Impartial?  I've never seen Window-Eyes at RNIB.  But that's another story.

Hi Jackie.

RNIB sells computers through suppliers like Dolphin and Sight and
Sound, depending on the computer package you choose to buy.  They also
have computers which can be demonstrated at the resource centre in
Judd Street, with all the different access technology products
preinstalled.  If you give the Technology for Life team a call through
the helpline on 03031239999, demonstrations can be arranged and
impartial advice given freely and without obligation.

Hi Derek

As I posted before, I may have it wrong, and am happy to find out and
report back.  But I thought RNIB could provide training on items
outwith the shop, or at least some hands-on prior to purchase.

As far as I know, RNIB is offering help to anyone regardless of what
device they have, as part of their £5m Online Today funding from the Big
Lottery.
If this is not the case, or there is another scheme running that
differs from my information, then I am sure someone will put us right.

yes but that's crazy, because the person told me that it didn't matter
what type of device so for instance an iPhone or an android phone.

I am
