Hi. Briefly, though it can be tempting to go for al-in-one scanner/printers, basically I do not because, if the thing breaks down then its a printer and scanner you cannot use. Guess they are pretty reliable though. Don't think the space saving is too much of a bonus either. You can get scanners which are certainly good enough for OCR work, are very thin and some now which stand on there side. Remember that copying is always part of the utilities software provided with scanners now, so one-touch copying of documents to the printer is easy-easy.
