Martin - This check box is already unchecked. It's not that a copy stays on
the surver, it's that it stays there until I open mail on my Windows laptop.
So, if I start Windows mail, all messages download, and that is it, they are
gone from the server, but if I open mail on my Mac or phone, mail will
download, but will also stay on the server, until I open mail on the Windows
machine. This is why I think this might be typical pop3 behaviour, and why I
might have to change to imap, but don't know enough, as I've never had this
problem matter before -

ok, if using outlook express or outlook, go to tools, accounts then to your
mail accounts, go to advanced, then tab to leave a copy of mail on the server
and uncheck the box there. You will need to do this for all your email
accounts.----- Original Message ---

      Hi all -

For a long time, I just had a single laptop where all my emails
downloaded to. This is via pop3. I now have a MacBook and an iPhone and iPod
also set up to receive mail. Thing is, when I've downloaded mail to either the
Mac or the phone/pod, when I open the laptop [the original machine where mail
was set up] everything downloads again to it. I'd like to have mail removed
from the server when downloaded, so does this mean I need to change from pop3
to imap? If so, what do I need to do for each device, or on my providers
website.

      Thanks -

      Andy
