Hi,

Imap is the answer, see my previous message. Pop3 is horrible, spawn of the
devil.

All the best

Steve

maybe the command to delete from server can only be issued by a Microsoft
machine? just a thought.

Martin - This check box is already unchecked. It's not that a copy stays on
the surver, it's that it stays there until I open mail on my Windows laptop.
So, if I start Windows mail, all messages download, and that is it, they are
gone from the server, but if I open mail on my Mac or phone, mail will
download, but will also stay on the server, until I open mail on the Windows
machine. This is why I think this might be typical pop3 behaviour, and why I
might have to change to imap, but don't know enough, as I've never had this
problem matter before -

ok, if using outlook express or outlook, go to tools, accounts then to your
mail accounts, go to advanced, then tab to leave a copy of mail on the
server and uncheck the box there. You will need to do this for all your
email accounts.----- Original Message ---

Subject: [access-uk] Help please with a Mail server issue

Hi all -

For a long time, I just had a single laptop where all my emails downloaded
to. This is via pop3. I now have a MacBook and an iPhone and iPod also set
up to receive mail. Thing is, when I've downloaded mail to either the Mac or
the phone/pod, when I open the laptop [the original machine where mail was
set up] everything downloads again to it. I'd like to have mail removed from
the server when downloaded, so does this mean I need to change from pop3 to
imap? If so, what do I need to do for each device, or on my providers
website.

Thanks -

Andy
