Hi Chris,

We're not talking of Skype, Kevin went off at a tangent I think. We're
talking about Revo Uninstaller.

Well it showed up on my machine, I just installed the latest Skype as of
today, no object navigation was necessary. I was able to both switch to
compact view and check the enable accessibility mode check box.

Sadly none of these options seem to show up using Nvda. Maybe with
object nav but I still find this a bit of a chore as I don't use it much.

Hi,

You need to make sure you wait until it is fully loaded, this can take
some
time.

Also in Options, General, Show All Updates, then you'll get them all.

Interesting enough I am not happy with revo, the reason is because it
doesn't seem to show all the programs that are installed on my computer.

I have 114 programs and it only shows something like 90! when I go
into programs and features all show up and they can be uninstalled ideas?

Glad to report that Revouninstall (freeware version) worked and that I
now have the latest version of Skype working on my system.

I was aware that the main Skype client was accessible using NVDA as I do
but I persisted in using GW Connect out of habit I suppose. It's always
better when the mainstream apps are fully accessible since they tend to
provide more features than the ghetto versions.

Thanks to all who helped.

Hi Paul,

No, never seen this to be honest. I retired GWC last week and am using
Skype with the Window-Eyes Skype Enhanced app with no problems.

All the best

Subject: [access-uk] GW Connect and updating Skype client

Having heard that GW Connect is to be permanently 'disconnected' and
killed off on account of Microsoft dropping the Skype API, I thought it
was about time to revert to the usual Skype application.

The version of Skype I have on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit machine
is 6.10. When I ran it, a message popped up, saying that this version
could no longer run and I needed to get the latest version of Skype. A
few steps later, I was running the Skype installer.

Then I got a message saying that the updating had been aborted since my
previous version could not be removed. That was that. After a reboot,
I tried to uninstall my existing version of Skype using Control Panel.
A Windows error message reported that something or other did not match
the stuff on my system. Hitting the Browse button in this message box
showed that the uninstall program was looking for a file called
skype.msi. A search for this file using the Start menu yielded no
results.

This now means that my existing Skype 6.10 will not run, it cannot be
uninstalled and the new version cannot be installed since it requires
the old one to go away. Has anyone else experienced this?

Note that I uninstalled GW Connect before attempting the Skype update.
I hope that uninstalling GWC did not remove the required information...

Paul
