I'd have to agree with Steve on this one! I too have installed iPodder and got it up and running, reasonably quickly, using JFW 5.1. Sometimes we are a little quick off the mark to declare something inaccessible. Although having said that, choice is always a good thing, so well done to the chap designing the other one! That's good enough for me. I don't always believe | it is necessary to have an "accessible" version. What makes it accessible | anyway? I feel that Ipodder is equally accessible, if you know your screen | reader. It is also free. It is good to have choice, but I think this word | Accessible is bandied about too much. It makes it sound like the other | programs are not accessible, and I don't like that. But that's just my | opinion of course. | | All the best | -- | Computer Room Services: the long cane for blind computer users. | Telephone Voice: +44(0)1438 742286, Fax/BBS: +44(0)1438 759589 | mobile: +44(0)7956 334938, | Email: Steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx | Web site: http://www.comproom.co.uk | | -----Original Message----- | From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf | Of Douglas Harrison | Sent: 07 May 2005 16:49 | To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx | Subject: [access-uk] Re: Accessible Podcaster | | | Steve, | If by Accessible Ipodder you mean the free Accessible Podcaster produced at | the | University of Manchester, it is in an early stage of development and has | been made | available for those interested to try out. (If you are talking about | something else, I do | apologise - please ignore what follows!) | | The object has been to keep it simple but still capable of doing the basic | things. I | suggested to the developer that an independent volume control would be | helpful if a | screen reader user wanted to listen to the start of an item before saving | it, and it was | implemented within about 24 hours.
