I didn't realize Dell would do that. That is great. Thanks for the =
info.

If you do not run sysprep, all or your machines will have the same SID. =
And
all of your local admin accounts will look the "same" to each other... =
i.e.,
you may change the password on a local account on one machine but not =
the
other... but the old password would work sometimes because the SID of =
the
account is the same.

A crappy explanation, but I can't think of a better one.

In the future, talk to Dell about loading on your corporate version of =
XP
pro, which has a VLK and does not require activation. They can do it =
for
little or no more money...

Subject: [windows2000] sysprep

I just got a bunch of new dell workstations. I want to create an image =
and
then put the image on all the workstations. I was just wondering if I =
have
to sysprep the workstation that I create the image from? What are the
downsides to not running sysprep first? =3D20 The reason I ask is that =
Dell
installs Windox xp pro on the workstations but I am required to activate =
the
machine with MS. I am trying to avoid the hassles of doing that. =3D20 =
Thanks
for you help in advance =3D20 Jonathan
