I strongly suggest that you find someone who can help you with the router.
Otherwise you will spend much wasted time on a problem like this.

What is ICMP?  The router was set up by someone else; or perhaps even
preconfigured like that when we got it.  I know for certain that no one here
has any experience with Cisco routers (which is what we have) and therefore
cannot diagnose anything like what you're talking about.
