Yes, the ir5000 can use the eCopy stuff.  Anything can.  It is not Canon
specific although they are "strategic partners".  It is an add on.  Only
the newer ones can do it out of the box without the additional eCopy
stuff.  But the eCopy add on is worth every penny.

Does the iR5000 use the eCopy Software too?

I can't recall it ever coming with any software, or being given anything
like that. The technician from the leasing company (Koneo) even had me
download the drivers from the canon website...
