Yeah... I know. Been there done all that. It's only this one person. And
all through the same server, and he's the only one affected, no matter the
application. Even notepad. *sigh* And of course, I have NO idea who the
vendor is for the printers... Or if we have a support contract. Maybe he'll
just have to deal with it until he gets his new machine.

There are 2 different places you can set the hole punch on a users computer.

The first one (explained below) will set the Printing Preferences. This is
the settings you want to use MOST of the time.

The other place is in the Application (like Word) where you set how you want
that particular print job to work. The Default settings from Printing
Preferences comes back when you start Word again.

Are all users printing through the same server? Maybe there is a printer
shared somewhere that only this person is using and that shared printer has
the default setting to punch holes.

The problem is that the setting is only for him, and we can turn it off all
we want... It just comes right back on. <grumble> No support from Canon on
it either... But then I've had a scant few minutes to look at it. :D I'm
gonna try deleting the guy's profile and letting it recreate and see what
happens.

Thanks for all your help.

If this was already suggested, please disregard.

The user can set preferences for many options that will become the default
for that user. At least it is that way with our Savin printer/copier.

Go into the Printers folder on the users machine, right click the problem
printer and select Properties.

There is a Printing Preferences button on the General page of our Savin
Printer Properties dialog box.

Click Printing Preferences and check to see how the hole punch is set.

If this is something that is a problem for all users and you are using a
Windows server to share the printer to users, these can also be set there in
the Printer Property Printing Preferences pages.

I've never actually used the hole punching feature. Sorry. I'm one of those
"half-automatic" guys who tend to do some stuff manually for no particular
reason. Ie, I print out at iR5000 and bring the papers back to my office,
and punch them there with my standard university issue manual hole puncher,
that every so often spills its guts onto my lap and floor... 8-}
