May I ask *why* you want to prevent users from surfing? --Original Message Text--- From: Mark Lee Date: Thu, 27 Nov 2003 14:34:04 +0000 (GMT) Cheers, but the cunning buggers just found a new one, type a url into word then click it !!!! We are still on NT4.0 here and I use policy files to limit and lock down everything. Works like a charm. If you cannot find a *.adm file that has this option you can find the appropriate registry key and write your own. Lots of info about this on the web. -----Original Message----- From: Mark Lee [mailto:marklee15@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, November 27, 2003 6:58 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx; windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [windows2000] Blocking Internet Browsing from Explorer.exe Hi, have scanned the archives but struggled find anything. I need to stop users being able to put URL's into the Windows Explorer address bar and surfing the net. We've restricted Internet Explorer to certain times of the day but users are begining to realise that they can still surf the net from Explorer.exe and it's becoming a real pain. Anyone got any good pointers or suggestions would be great.
