alan told you how to do it.
when winamp is opened, go to the preferences by hitting control
p. up arrow or hit the home key and go to the top of the list. down
arrow to the general line and start tabbing. there is a check box
that is checked by default whenever winamp is installed. uncheck the
box that deals with updates and then tab to the close button and hit
the spacebar. that will take care of things.
