OK, This is good news from my point of view. The only thing that XP is making difficult is a rewrite of the speech output module. The intention is to break this out of SurfaceReader itself so that it can be more easily used in other projects (both my own and as a freebie tool for other developers who want to make their applications self-voicing). This rewrite isn't going to happen any time very soon, so the next version at least will definitely offer XP support. I'll also ensure that whatever version turns out to be the last XP-compatible version will continue to be available on the web site for those that need it. Best wishes. However, just from what I've been reading around the net on different forums, mailing list and from my own experience I believe most have at least upgraded to Windows7. Therefore it is my opinion that if dropping support for XP will help SR to become more stable and lead to future developments I say do it. -----Original Message----- From: visurfacereader-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:visurfacereader-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Tim Burgess Sent: Tuesday, August 12, 2014 9:34 AM To: VI SurfaceReader VI SurfaceReader Subject: [visurfacereader] Future of SurfaceReader Hi all, In order to improve the screen-reader handling in SurfaceReader I need to decide whether or not to continue to support Windows XP. I've provided this support up to now because a lot of audio users were still using the platform. However, it definitely introduces more work and issues and if Microsoft aren't supporting it in terms of security fixes, etc. I really think it's had its day. Please let me know your thoughts and I'll make a decision based on feedback. Best wishes. Tim Burgess
