Damien,

As an experiment, I prepared ten words in Irish which use á or í or
non-English spelling such as ceist or dtí.

I then wrote a phrase in Irish using words that require the sine fada. When
I ran the spell-check each of the misspelled words came up as suggested
replacements and were corrected when I accepted the suggestion. I can
explain how to set up your own custom dictionaries to do this if that helps
you.

If you are looking for a word for word translator then a routine that
Duxbury produce called "Scrub.exe" could be used. This requires a flat file
with substitution rules. The routine is part of the Duxbury Braille
Translator suite in which the first field is replaced by the second field
when there is a match with the source text to be translated.
Again, I can explain this more fully if you think it would serve your
purposes. I can also let you have the scrub routine for free if you need it.

Is any of this a help to you?

All the best,

Cearbhall

Damien,

I would like to understand exactly what you doing. Would you like to explain
in more details?

If you created your own custom dictionary in MS Word would that solve the
problem?

All the best,
