Hi Aaron,
I'm very much in the same position as yourself, in that I can read some
print with glasses or a magnifier, but also use braille and speech when
appropriate.
I Haven't tried out the magnification gestures for android as yet, as I
generally try to use a launcher such as Nova Launcher and try to set apps
for over-all large print use, although I use both large print and speech
simultaneously.
As regards your more general question, I would tend to agree with Quentin's
view that it's really a personal preference when it comes to when to use
large print, when to use Braille, and when to use a cane. I won't make any
further comment on this at the risk of going off topic, but I hope my
message helps.
