I led an Audubon Society of Northern Virginia walk this morning at Huntley
Meadows. There were 11 birders. The advertised object of the walk was to
study shorebirds, but due to the heavy rain recently, there were no visible
mudflats, and thus, only two shorebirds - a Solitary Sandpiper and a Killdeer
- could be found. We did identify 39 species, however, with the Little Blue
Herons heading the list of highlights.
