Larry,

Your Acleris might be A. negundana, the Speckled Acleris (Hodges #).  I'm basing this ID partly on the timing of its arrival; a slightly less worn specimen showed up at my porch light that same night. I was planning to post about it when I got home from work today.

I sent these three to BugGuide I.D. request. They came to my porch light in Johnson City, TN (Washington County).

maybe Acleris sp. 2-21-10
maybe Phaeoura sp. 6-18-09
maybe Olive-shaded Bird Dropping Moth - Hodges#9090 (Tarachidia candefacta) 7-8-09
