How is this done precisely, keeping the user profiles off the server? I know you can redirect them and have the main profile on another server, but doesnt it still cache a local copy down to each Citrix box? All servers have MS Office, NT4TSE, MF1.8 and our patient admin app on a 4GB partition with over 50% free. The rest is used to keep the pagefile seperate. The servers require ECC memory and user profiles are stored on an external fileserver. A few of the servers are running mirrored so that we can quickly generate a replacement system drive if a single-drive machine fails. Spec the servers for the job, that's my motto I personally would have no problem with deploying IDE machines in a sizeable Citrix farm but 1U rack mount models are pretty rare ;-) -----Original Message----- From: Alexander Danilychev [mailto:teknica@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 15 January 2003 09:35 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Server recommendations Well... it is late here, but ... 9GB + no mirror? How many users do you have, what apps do you run and where do you hide user profiles? In old days 4GB was OK, this days 9GB - no way Use mirror (real hardware RAID)! If single drive is an option - no reason to use ECC memory either. By the same token PCs with IDE drives can be "deployed" as MetaFrame boxes ALEX >> From: "Rowlandson, John" < John.Rowlandson@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> >> Reply-To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >> To: < thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> >> Subject: [THIN] Re: Server recommendations >> Date: Wed, 15 Jan 2003 20:08:00 +1100 >> >> >> >> >> my 20 new dell blade boxes came with 74Gb disks.. >> >> why? cos you can't buy much smaller over here nowadays and they arent = >> much dearer than the next size disk >> >> who knows what job they'll have in 12 months if they arent MF boxes >> >> we also have 1 config of blade, 1 config of 2650, 1 config of 1650 etc = >> etc >> >> JOhn >> >> -----Original Message----- >> From: Angus Macdonald [mailto:Angus.Macdonald@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] >> Sent: Wednesday, 15 January 2003 8:03 PM >> To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >> Subject: [THIN] Re: Server recommendations >> >> >> >> We use mostly single 9GB hard drives in the Citrix boxes.
